The divisibility rules worth knowing
Divisibility rules are quick checks that tell you whether one number divides evenly into another — without actually dividing. They are a huge help for simplifying fractions and finding factors.
- 2: the number ends in 0, 2, 4, 6 or 8 (it is even).
- 5: it ends in 0 or 5.
- 10: it ends in 0.
- 3: the digits add up to a multiple of 3.
- 9: the digits add up to a multiple of 9.
- 6: it passes both the 2 rule and the 3 rule.
