NCERT Class 1 Maths Chapter 10 How Do I Spend My Day?: what it teaches

Before clocks, children learn the shape of a day (morning, afternoon, evening, night), which things take longer, and how seasons change what we eat and wear.

Why it matters later. Understanding the order of a day and which things take longer comes before reading a clock in Class 2. The seasons work links maths to the child’s own life.

Questions parents ask

What is taught about time in Class 1 NCERT maths?

Parts of the day, ordering daily events, which activities take longer, and the seasons. Reading a clock comes later.

Should I teach my Class 1 child to read a clock?

You can talk about it, but the book focuses on the order of a day first. Clock reading is in Class 2.

How can I teach seasons?

Sort clothes and foods by season and talk about what the weather is like in each.
